With its natural beauty and countless design options, wooden fences have long been a popular choice for homeowners. Compared to steel, concrete or vinyl, no other fence material offers the wide range of design options offered by a wooden fence; solid types for privacy, picket or lattice screens to allow light through, post & rail fences to establish property boundaries, often the only limit is imagination.
Western red cedar is the material of choice on the west coast for its availability, rich colour, and natural resistance to decay. Pressure treated materials are used where greater protection against decay is necessary. Our cedar material is milled locally and available in a wide range of sizes, both in standard lumber sizes or full dimension rough-cut. We offer our installations using either pre-built panels or built-on-site.
Special attention should be given to the construction of a wooden fence in order to maximize its life. Size of lumber used, orientation of lumber, fastener choice, and how the posts are installed are just some of the items that should be considered carefully before building. Our installation teams are solely focused on constructing fences every day, giving them the knowledge and specialized understanding needed for a high-quality fence build.

In a word: Familiarity. We’ve all grown up in a world of wood decks, fences, picnic tables, and furniture, and there’s a comfort level in sticking with what we know.
Cedar contains natural oils that make it rot-resistant. In addition, when you seal and treat your fence you do even more to ward off rot. That said, cedar is a biological material. Eventually it’s going to start to decay. Fortunately, Northern White Cedar can take 15 to 30 years to do that, making it an ideal material for fences.
